HANDS Specialist

The Powell County Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time HANDS Specialist. In the Health Access Nurturing Development Services (HANDS) program), responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to; completing required training, managing and maintaining a caseload of multiple families, weekly ongoing home visitation with new and expecting parents and families, providing support and education to families, and providing resources and referrals to families as needed. Work will require travel to family homes or within the community setting when not in the agency office.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science related field may also be considered with one (1) year experience performing case management services. Associate degree in Nursing with licensure in Kentucky or a compact state and two (2) years of public health experience will substitute for education. Must be a licensed Social Worker or licensed Registered Nurse in Kentucky or compact state to supervise and conduct performance evaluations for staff that delivers direct services.

Starting Salary: $17.04-$21.19/hr. May be adjusted based upon additional education & experience.

This is a full-time contract position. The benefits of this position include retirement benefits with the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority, health, and life insurance through Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan, paid holidays, sick and vacation leave accrual, and other optional insurance benefits.
